Benefits

Benefits - what are they?
Some people confuse social services with social security benefits. Social services do not provide money or financial benefits You may be able to get benefits if you are disabled, have a long-term illness, caring responsibilities or are frail because of old age. If you are receiving services from this Department, we can arrange a benefits check for you. This can help by checking that you are getting all the welfare benefits you are entitled to.

How do I get them?

If you are receiving services and would like a benefit check, you should contact the home care charging team who will arrange this for you. Age Concern currently offers this service for us.

If you are of pension age, the Westminster Benefits Advice Team will help make sure you claim all the benefits you are entitled to. They will offer a home visit, benefit advice and information, a check on the benefits you are currently receiving and help with completion of forms. If applicable, they will also help you compete your social services financial assessment for home care services as well as giving general information that might help you to remain independent at home.
