What can I recycle?
Recycling in Westminster is easy.
You can recycle all of the following items:
newspapers- magazines
- junk mail (including window envelopes)
- white and yellow telephone directories
- flattened cardboard
- computer paper
- all types and colours of glass bottle (like wine and beer bottles) - please remove the tops
all types and colours of glass jars but please remove the lids- drink cans
- food tins (spaghetti, tuna, fruit etc)
- aerosol cans (if completely empty)
- all plastic bottles (such as soft drink bottles or fabric conditioner bottles) - please remove the lids
- milk and juice Tetrapak cartons – only at selected sites on a trial basis. Refer to Recycling A-Z
We can't collect the following for recycling:
- broken glass such as broken drinking glasses or broken window panes.
- pyrex glassware, light bulbs, window glass or cookware glass – this glass is different to the glass used to make bottles and jars and will contaminate the load.
crisp and snack packets - crisp packets contain a metal coated plastic film which looks like aluminium but cannot be recycled.- coffee packaging - The packaging used in some coffee packaging contains a mixture of materials and cannot be recycled.
- yoghurt pots
- microwave trays
- vegetable plastic containers and trays
- clingfilm
- plastic bags
- polystyrene
