Garden waste collection service

Fortnightly collections begin in:

St Johns Wood - Wednesday 14 March, 2007
Maida Vale - Wednesday 21 March, 2007

Keep your garden looking great by recycling your garden waste all year round.

If you live in Maida Vale or St John’s Wood and have a garden, you could be eligible for a fortnightly garden waste collection.

We will collect all your prunings, twigs and leaves and make them into compost for Westminster’s many parks and gardens.

To see if your street is covered please use our street search facility.

If you would like to start recycling your garden waste then call the environment action line on 020 7641 2000 or email recycling@westminster.gov.uk and we will provide you with a reusable bag. If you need more bags, just call us and we will drop them off.

To ensure that your rubbish is collected, make sure your bags are on the edge of your property by 8am on Wednesday morning.

What can I recycle?

  • leafprunings, twigs (under 30mm thick) and leaves
  • old flowers and houseplants
  • weeds
  • grass cuttings
  • thin logs and branches (under 30mm thick)

What can’t I recycle?

  • thick logs and branches (over 30mm thick)
  • any food waste
  • any other rubbish
  • soil

Please don't overfill the bag - if you can't lift it, neither can we!
