Most complaints about animals are about barking dogs.
Because dog barking normally only lasts a short while or is intermittent, it can be very hard for us to make a full assessment or catch the culprit in the act.
We will only take formal action where a nuisance has been witnessed. When the noise hasn't been witnessed and we can't take formal action, it is often easier for you to take their own action.
Detailed information on taking your own action in response to noise nuisance can be found here.
We operate a dog warden service which deals with stray dogs in Westminster and with complaints about other people’s dogs (noise, fouling and other nuisance). Click on the link for more information about the dog warden service.
In an emergency, the we may seek advice from the dog warden or the RSPCA (www.rspca.org.uk, tel: 0990 555999) before taking formal action.
We will not seize an animal unless there are no other options available.
