The draft supplementary planning guidance [SPG] has been prepared in response to recommendations made by the Inspector in his final report following the Inquiry into the Replacement Unitary Development Plan (RUDP). It supplements existing RUDP policies TACE 8-10 by providing an aid to their interpretation so as to assist in determining planning applications involving entertainment uses within the Stress Areas and Central Activities Zone (CAZ).
The city council recognises the important contribution the entertainment industry makes to the City. Westminster has an unequalled range of eating, drinking and dancing venues, cinemas, theatres, casinos and other entertainment uses, which help contribute to London’s role as a World City. The draft SPG offers bespoke guidance for sub-areas within these parts of Westminster that contain the largest concentration of entertainment uses. This will assist in managing the impact of these uses on the local community while enhancing conditions for existing occupiers and users of these areas.
Phase one of the draft SPG applies to the first 18 of a total of 33 sub-areas which when completed will form the SPG – Entertainment Uses in Westminster.
