The council is committed to promoting the West End as a shop window for retail, leisure and entertainment.
That’s why it created the West End Marketing Alliance to bring together a range of businesses, all with a shared interest in the continued success of the West End.
The group aims to increase footfall and spend across the West End, from Marble Arch to Trafalgar Square.
WEMA has funded a Christmas campaign in 2006 to attract visitors to the West End. The campaign has its own website, which has everything visitors need to know about the area.
In the summer of 2006, the council staged a family-focused weekend event called West End Live. The event promoted the variety and wonder of the West End. Over 130,000 people attended. The event will be repeated in 2007.
The WEMA members include: Covent Garden Market, Heart of London Business Alliance, New West End Company, Shaftesbury PLC, Society of London Theatre and Visit London.
