There is a right of appeal to the Secretary of State against the Council’s refusal, or failure to deal with an application within the prescribed time. Details of the latest Appeals Received and Decided are published below:
Appeals must be made to the Planning Inspectorate within 6 months of the date of the decision, or within 8 weeks in the case of advertisement appeals.
The majority of appeals are decided through the written procedure, but the appellant and the local authority can request that their case by heard by an Inspector at a Hearing or a Public Inquiry. There is no third party right of appeal against the grant or refusal of permission.
If you would like to attend a hearing or public inquiry as a member of the public, you need to report to the Porter’s Office upon arrival to get access to the Planning Appeals Chamber. The building is fully accessible for people with disabilities.
