The Children and Young People’s City Survey results will act both as a keystone in Westminster City Council’s Change for Children agenda and as a baseline for children’s and young people’s views on the services they use.
Focusing on the opinions
There are some excellent examples of consultation and engagement with children and young people at Westminster, but this survey, now in its second year, focuses on the opinions of children and young people across the city. It was conducted in November 2006 in nurseries, schools, playcentres and youth clubs across the borough.
Five themes
Over 1,500 children and young people were surveyed in total, aged between 3-18. The children were asked questions around the five Every Child Matters agenda themes: be healthy, stay safe, enjoy and achieve, making a positive contribution and economic well being.
Extended survey
Building on the success of the first survey, this year the survey was extended to include children in early years services and classes, and different technology was introduced to try out different methods of delivery.
