FAQs

Q: I have a second home. Can I register at both addresses?

A: If you spend roughly an equal amount of time in both places you can register at both.

You should reside for at least six months a year (or at least 3 days a week) to be registered at an address. You are only allowed to vote once at the same election. The courts have decided that students can register at both their home and term- time addresses.

Q: Can I register online?

You can now register using our new online portal, My Westminster. This allows you to register for several Westminster services, such as the Electoral Register, Libraries and Council Tax, at the same time. Simply register and create your online account, then you can enter your details. Once this is complete, print out your voter registration form and return it to Electoral Services.

Q: Will I receive any confirmation that my voter registration form has been actioned?

Yes, once we receive and action your voter registration form we will send you a confirmation letter. You should receive it within seven working days. You will also receive a separate letter once your name has been added to the Electoral Register after the relevant monthly update. This second letter will show you your poll number.
