The Committee’s role is to examine the provision of a wide-range of local services, including Housing; Adult Social Care Services; and Arts, Museums and Libraries. It has particular responsibility for looking at the provision of health services as they affect local residents. The Committee looks in detail at current provision, and any proposals for change, inviting contributions from the Council’s partners including National Health Service Trusts; registered social landlords and the Council’s housing management organisation (CityWest Homes); those involved in providing social care services within the city; and a number of regional organisations involved in cultural services including the local voluntary sector.
The Chairman of the Committee is Councillor Judith Warner.
The Committee operates in a similar manner to a House of Commons Select Committee, making recommendations for improvement in service provision, taking into account developing best practice in each area and any particular local circumstances. Identified key strategic issues are considered at each meeting of the Committee and separate Task Groups have been established to scrutinise certain issues in more detail.
the Health and Community Services Policy and Scrutiny Committee is made up of 9 Councillors. Please click here for a list of the Councillors on the Committee.
