Crime and Disorder P and S Committee

The Committee’s role is to examine the provision of a wide-range of services aimed at reducing crime and disorder in Westminster. The Committee considers the role of the Council in combating crime and anti-social behaviour, through programmes such as the City Guardians and the “Families at Risk” project; and also the role of external agencies including the Crime and Disorder Reduction Partnership.

The Committee operates in a similar manner to a House of Commons Select Committee, making recommendations for improvement to service providers and sharing best practice. Key strategic issues are considered at each meeting of the Committee and separate task groups can be established to scrutinise issues in more detail.

The Chairman of the Committee is Councillor Tony Devenish.
