Introduction To The City Council's Forward Plan Of Key Decisions

This is the Forward Plan of key decisions, which the City Council is required to update monthly in accordance with the Local Government Act 2000.

Key decisions are defined by statute as:

  • Decisions likely to result in the Council incurring expenditure which is, or the making of savings which are, significant having regard to the Council’S budget for the service or function to which the decision relates; or
  • To be significant in terms of its effects on communities living or working in an area comprising two or more wards or electoral divisions in the area of the Council.

The Forward Plan is updated monthly and includes the key decisions for the following four months. The decision takers are either the full Cabinet, individual Cabinet Members or Chief Officers. The updated Forward Plan for each month will be available fourteen days in advance of the date that it comes into effect (which will be on the 1st of the month). Key decisions included for the first time are marked *.

Since the first version of the Forward Plan was published in August 2001, we have continued to develop the document by, for example, including more information in respect of consultation on key decisions, and including whether matters will be, or have been, considered by one of the Council’S Overview and Scrutiny Committees and/or an Area Forum. You are invited to address comments or queries directly to officers from this site via their addresses.

The information contained in the plan is based on statutory requirements. However comments on the format and contents of the Plan would be welcome.
