You have already been using the resources of the Family Records Centre . You have a reference quoting one of the following registration districts:

Westminster Register Office regrets that we are unable to supply certificates of birth, death or marriage when the application quotes only the Family Record Centre reference, unless this is for 1978 or later. This is due to the different method of preparation between the Family Records Index and of the local register office index. Unless you are able to quote the exact date and street address of event/s sought we can not assist.

If you have a Family Record Centre reference we suggest that application be made to:- The Registrar General, O.N.S., Smedley Hydro, Trafalgar Road, Birkdale, Southport, PR8 2HH.

If you want the latest information on the costs of certificates obtained from the General Register Office for England and Wales telephone 0845 603 7788.

You may have been unsuccessful in locating a record at the Family Records Centre in the Registrar General’s Index. Since the records at this office should correspond to the records held by the Registrar General it is extremely unlikely that the record you seek will be found here. We are therefore unable to undertake searches of such a nature, as the searches would be too protracted for the staff here to undertake.

You may however search in person, or send an agent to search on your behalf, at this office between 9am– 4pm, Monday to Friday, by appointment, at a cost of £18 plus the certificate fee(s).
