Accommodation and Support Services
LASC has a history of providing accommodation and support services for asylum seekers supported by the London boroughs. Past procurement has been for adults, families and unaccompanied asylum seeking children during the Interim Arrangements. LASC now concentrates on procuring good quality accommodation and support to UASC in a safe and secure environment that assists the London boroughs to meet their statutory obligations.
LASC offers, through a number of providers, shared accommodation and support packages.
Accommodation
All accommodation is initially inspected by a LASC member to assess suitability and by a Environmental Health Officer prior to occupation. All accommodation must comply with local standards for HMOs and approved as suitable for the intended client group as well as complying with legislative requirements.
Support for Young People
Each young person in supported housing will be allocated a key worker who will work closely with the local authority social worker and personal advisor to enable the best outcomes for the young person. Each young person will have a Pathway Plan. The Key Worker and local authority social workers will be responsible for assisting the young person to achieve the aims and objectives of the Pathway Plan. Support plans will include gaining access to health services, education, places of worship and suitable community groups.
Location
Accommodation is situated in various London locations. Visits to the properties prior to moving in can be arranged. The local authority and LASC jointly determine the accommodation and location based on availability and needs.
Costs
Costs depend on the accommodation and support package requested.
Providers
Accommodation and support is supplied and managed by Providers. All Providers go through an accreditation process before service delivery begins.
Quality Assurance
Properties and Providers are regularly monitored and assessed according to contractural standards. All properties comply with environmental health and safety requirements.
