About LASC

LASC has worked as a coordinating body for London’s local authorities on matters of asylum and refugee integration since 1999. LASC has recently taken on a migration role which entails provision and management of information for London. The National Register for Unaccompanied Children (NRUC) was established as a separate project and team within LASC in 2004.

LASC members
LASC's members are the London boroughs. Social workers, housing officers, refugee integration advisers and community cohesion workers within the London boroughs use LASC's services.

Key partners
LASC's key partners are the Border and Immigration Agency (BIA), London Councils and the London boroughs. LASC works with the voluntary sector on cross agency issues.

LASC’s work programme for 2007/08 can be examined in detail in the LASC Business Plan

An overview of LASC’s key areas of work is below:

Unaccompanied asylum-seeking children and young people
The welfare and care of unaccompanied asylum seeking children (under 18 years) and young people (usually 18 – 24 years) is at the forefront of LASC’s work programme.
