Westminster Small & Minority Business Council

Westminster Small and Minority Business Council (WSMBC) is an exciting new initiative aimed at helping small and minority owned businesses grow in Westminster.

Sir Simon Milton, Leader of Westminster City Council, announced the concept in March 2005. Since then WSMBC has been established as a company limited by guarantee and WCC remains a major supporter of it. In fact, the establishment of WSMBC was ranked among WCC's top 10 achievements in 2005.

Mission
The WSMBC mission is to promote economic development and regeneration among communities in Westminster. It will do this by encouraging large businesses to provide training, mentoring and business opportunities for small and minority owned businesses in Westminster. Business growth means more jobs and investment. More jobs ultimately benefit the local community.

Aim
WSMBC is modelled on the highly successful Houston Minority Business Council in the United States. Initially their work will focus on facilitating seminar and networking events for large and small businesses. Over time they aim to develop more comprehensive services including databases and systems to advertise and match up the needs of large and small businesses across a broad range of sectors.

The project depends on support from larger and smaller businesses.
