Older People: Housing with Care Strategy

Following extensive consultation in 2007 Westminster's recently published strategy, Older People: Housing & Care is now available.

The vision underpinning the strategy is that older people are enabled to live in the housing of their choice which is of the highest quality, achieving and sustaining a good quality of life.

The strategy outlines how the council will work with its partners to achieve this vision. It sets out the “Westminster Standard for Older People’s Housing” which is based on what older people have said about the facilities they would like to see in sheltered housing.

The ambitious work programme includes upgrading existing schemes to meet this standard, providing new housing options such as extra care and leasehold schemes, and developing community based hubs of outreach services and a range of preventative services to assist older people to remain in their own homes for as long as possible.
