Deal in Poisons Application

The Licensing of Game dealing is dealt with by this Authority under two separate pieces of legislation: The Game Act 1831, and the Game Licences Act 1860.

If you wish to deal in game then the Game Act 1831 and Game Licences Act 1860 (s.14) requires that you hold two forms of licence.

Game is defined as:- Hares, Pheasant, Partridge, Grouse, Wild Fowl, Heath or Moor Game or Deer.

The first licence is issued by the local authority empowering the licensee to buy game anywhere from any person who may lawfully sell game. However, they may only sell game at one shop, house or stall only kept by them.

The second licence is an excise licence issued by the Post Office, as agent. This licence is to deal in game generally and does not relate to dealing in game in one particular place.
