The Premises Licensing Inspectors are responsible for carrying out programmed and reactive inspections of premises within the City of Westminster. The Premises Licensing Inspectors are empowered under the Licensing Act 2003 and carry out duties with a view to ensuring premises comply with specific licence conditions, and ensuring promotion of the 4 Licensing Objectives, these being:
As well as having powers under the Licensing Act 2003, the other main duties of the Premises Licensing Inspectors include licensed and unlicensed sex establishments; premises providing massage and special treatments; amusement arcades, casino’s, betting shops, bingo halls and other premises covered by the Gambling Act 2005; and the Health Act 2006. The Premises Licensing Inspectors also work closely with a number of agencies including the Metropolitan Police, Environmental Health Consultation Team, London Fire and Emergency Planning Authority, Gambling Commission, as well as other Council teams.
